APSCO-ZBEU

The Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) is an international organization that actively aims to promote space co-operation within the member states to maximize the use of space resources. apsco member states Bangladesh, China, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Turkey. A bilateral agreement between APSCO and our China Satellite Positioning Office (CSNO) was signed in 2018 to establish a satellite observation station in Zonguldak. In this context, the installation of the observation station, which was brought to our University free of charge, was completed and started to collect data.

The observation station, which is a part of the Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSS) control section, provides 24/7 observations to the GPS of America, GLONASS of Russia, Galileo of Europe and BeiDou of China. The combination of different systems brings an increase in accuracy and reliability in satellite based location determination. The project aims to conduct performance tests of China's BeiDou satellites, as well as to investigate ground motion and atmospheric changes.
