Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Topan visited the Institute of Geography, Ruhr University Bochum, upon the invitation of the predecessor and successor co-chairs Prof. Dr. Carsten Jürgens and Dr. Valerie Graw, respectively, within the scope of his duty as co-chair of the EARSeL Urban Remote Sensing Working Group, together with the predecessor co-chair Prof. Dr. Derya Maktav (retired faculty member of ITU Geomatics Engineering Department). Within the scope of the visit, the host Prof. Dr. Carsten Jürgens made a presentation introducing the University and the Institute; Dr. Valeri Graw made a presentation on the activities of the Institute; Prof. Dr. Derya Maktav gave information about the activities and events organised by the Urban Remote Sensing SIG since its establishment; Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Topan made presentations on the history, facilities, education and research activities of our University and the Department, GeoEtrim studies and the history and current period of Zonguldak Hard Coal Basin. The visit ended with a tour of the Institute and a discussion on the future work of the Urban Remote Sensing SIG and possible joint education and research activities.
