Participating in ISPRS, EARSeL and DGPF Workshop.

Our Department participated with three papers in the international workshop ‘Topographic Map Making from Space’ held at Yıldız Technical University on 29-31 January 2025 in cooperation with ISPRS, EARSeL and DGPF, dedicated to the 80th birthday of Dr.-Ing. Karsten Jacobsen.

Dr.-Ing. Karsten Jacobsen is a faculty member of Leibniz Hannover University Institute of Photogrammetry and Geoinformation (Germany), which has made significant contributions to the research, development and education activities of our Department in photogrammetry and remote sensing since 2000s with the initiatives of Prof. Dr. Gürcan Büyüksalih, who worked in our Department between 1998-2006. Within the scope of the joint project between TUBITAK and Jülich Research Centre (Germany), the evaluation of high-resolution satellite images in terms of geospatial applications was carried out and a first was achieved nationwide and pioneering studies were carried out by evaluating different types of images and data.

This process is described in "Two Men and Nine Years: Contribution of Karsten Jacobsen and Gürcan Büyüksalih to Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Activities of Department of Geomatics Engineering at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (Hüseyin Topan, Hakan Akçın, Murat Oruç, Aycan Murat Marangoz, Can Atalay, Çağlar Bayık)" and “A Review on Geo3o1 for 3D Georeferencing Accuracy Assessment of State-of-the-Art Sensor Dependent Orientation Model” by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Topan. Dr. Nehir Uyar presented "Investigation of Impact to Climate Change of Methane Emission of Underground Mines and Thermal Power Plants Using Sentinel-5p TROPOMI Satellite Data from GEE Platform (Nehir Uyar, Hakan Akçın)".
